Product warranty
At Spacebar Design, we are committed to providing you with high-quality furniture and homeware that meets our stringent standards. This warranty outlines our express guarantee to you, which is in addition to, and does not limit or exclude, your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA).
Spacebar Design warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and manufacturing workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the original date of purchase.
What is Covered: This manufacturing warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal household use. This includes structural integrity of frames, joins, and the quality of finishes, provided the product has been cared for according to our care instructions.
What is Not Covered: This warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear (e.g., fading of fabrics, minor scuffing, softening of cushions over time).
- Damage caused by misuse, abuse, accident, neglect, improper cleaning, or incorrect assembly by the customer.
- Damage caused by exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
- Damage from commercial use (unless explicitly stated otherwise in writing for a specific product).
- Products that have been modified or repaired by unauthorised third parties.
- Minor variations in colour, grain, or texture that are inherent to natural materials.
- Costs of transportation or removal of the product from your home.
Regardless of our express 1-year manufacturing warranty, you are protected by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA). The CGA provides fundamental guarantees that goods purchased for personal or household use in New Zealand must:
- Be of acceptable quality: They must be fit for all purposes for which goods of that kind are commonly supplied, acceptable in appearance and finish, free from minor defects, safe, and durable. This means they must last for a "reasonable time," which can extend beyond any manufacturer's warranty period depending on the type of product, its price, and expected use.
- Be fit for any particular purpose that you made known to us before purchase, and we agreed the product was suitable for.
- Match any description, sample, or demonstration model.
- Have spare parts and repair facilities available for a reasonable time (from the manufacturer).
1. Contact Us: If you believe your product has a defect or a fault, please contact our Customer Service team immediately.
2. Provide Details: Please provide your proof of purchase (original receipt or order confirmation), a description of the issue, and ideally, clear photographs or videos of the defect.
3. Assessment: We will assess your claim in accordance with this warranty and the Consumer Guarantees Act. This may involve arranging for an inspection of the product.
4. Remedy: If a valid claim is established, and depending on the nature of the fault (minor or major) and the applicable legislation (our express warranty or the CGA), we will, at our discretion, choose to:
- Repair the product.
- Replace the product with an identical or similar item.
- Provide a refund.
CGA Always Applies: Nothing in this warranty limits or excludes your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. Your rights under the CGA apply automatically.
Proof of Purchase: Valid proof of purchase is required for all warranty and CGA claims.
Care Instructions: To ensure the longevity of your furniture and to assist with any warranty claims, please adhere to the care instructions provided with your product and available on our website.
Business Use: If goods are purchased for business purposes, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply. In such cases, only our express 1-year manufacturing warranty (and any other written agreements) will apply.
